5 Steps to Being Productive

5 Steps to Being Productive

Firstly, What is being Productive?

Productivity is often describes a person's capability to do a lot of work, but is can refer to anything that produces a lot. A Productive day would mean to complete more things in a less amount of time but also doing it effectively.
Productivity is the amount of output produced per work hour. In other words, the calculation is: Productivity = output / work hours.

Here are some points to remember,

  • Sleep.
Sleep more. I know it can be tempting to stay up at night to do whatever do but you would wake up the next day feeling more exhausted. Its hard to be productive while yawning and trying to stay awake.

I suggest you have at least 6-8 hours of sleep a day. It will also be better if you regulate your sleeping schedule and sleep at the same time everyday even if it is the weekends and also wake up at the same time if possible.

  • Plan out your week.

It’s extremely important to plan your week. I totally recommend a bullet journal. It allows you to write down the things that you have going on each day. It will also allow you to know what you should and should not do to help you reach your goals. It’s okay to say no  to things every once in a while.

Try not to plan by every hour, as it would be more difficult to adhere to your plans that week. I'd say plan out what you would complete that day or that week. This gives you more flexibility in your schedule.

  • Make a plan/list of goals.
Write a list of tasks that will get you one step closer to that goal. Then plan out when you are going to tackle those tasks during the week.

Want a promotion? What do you have to do to get there? Plan the tasks you are going to have to do to get there during the week. Like the point before, plan out what you would want/need completed that week that would help you reach your goals.

  • Take time for self care.
It’s very important to not get burnt out. So spend time to take care of yourself, care for your mental health. Take time out of the day to relax your mind and maybe you can go out for a 10 minute walk.

If you are constantly working & never taking time to take care of yourself, then you might lose motivation to keep working on your goal. Hence decreasing your productivity.

Also, always remember to take breaks so that you would not get burnt out.

  • Remember to have fun.
If you are miserable going to work, maybe it is time to change your career and maybe find a new job. Have fun living life! Don't hate your work, find something you would enjoy doing, so that you don't spend 5 days out of the 7 days in your week doing something you don't enjoy or feel miserable doing.

If you are miserable working on your side hustle, it may be time to take a step back & try something new. Life is too short to spend hours being miserable.
