I used to be the typical teen, sleeping only 6 hours a day with very unhealthy sleeping habits. I used to sleep at 12 and wake up at 6 in the morning for school and if it was a weekend, I would sleep in till 10am, only to be awakened by my mother shouting at me to wake up. Of course, it wasn’t easy changing my wake up time from a late 10am to an early 5am, but I did with a little determination and resisting myself from pressing that snooze button and heading straight back to bed. Cycling, why?

Cycling, why? Why would anyone want to cycle on a daily basis? That was a question I used to ask myself when I watched those videos of pro-cyclists and how they train for their upcoming events.   As I started to develop a love and passion towards cycling, I found that it got easier to get myself to cycle every day. That was because I started to like cycling. At first, it was all about exercising and fitness, but now it's about the sport and my passion for it. It used to be extremely difficult to regularly carry my overly-heavy mountain bike off the racks and out of the house and to the roads. The simple thought of bringing my bike out was enough to dis-interest me from cycling. It is in times like this where you have to put in the effort to get yourself out to cycle, whether it is to get fitter or for fun.   Personally, it is the energy I felt after a bike ride that kept me going back to it.
