How to Study Smart.
Want to study smart but not sure how? Here, i will be sharing some methods and tips you can use to Study Smart.
What does it mean to Study Smart?
It means using techniques that save time, cover more material, and focus more on your goal, Whether it be to pass an exam or gain more knowledge. Techniques include using mnemonics, revising based on one's retention rate, Identifying which areas need skimming and which need in-depth study, if studying for an exam, figuring out question patterns and studying accordingly. Making notes and using them for revision instead of textbooks, Taking breaks to maintain peak attention span. Overall learning with efficiency instead of trying to brute force information in the brain.
So, How Can You Study smart?
- Take regular breaks
Taking regular breaks will allow your mind to rest and recharge before getting back to studying. There are studies done in the past to prove this point.
An example of a technique is The Pomorodo Technique. Which is basically studying for 25 minutes and rest for 5 minutes or studying 45 minutes and resting 10 minutes. learn more
In your break times, you can breathe, meditate, grab a cup of coffee, go for a short walk or do something else relaxing. Try to stay away from social media or distracting content that might lead you to spend more time than you are supposed to on a break.

- Review often
Review the information you study frequently to be sure that you will remember it.
You can read over what you have studied that day before going to sleep. There are also studies that have shown studying right before you sleep boosts retention. Which means you will better remember the information if you go through your notes before bed.
Memory for Semantically Related and Unrelated Declarative Information: The Benefit of Sleep, the Cost of Wake
The results of the study: Sleep made no difference when participants were asked to recall the related words, but when participants were asked to recall unrelated word pairs, the 9pm group—the group that slept right after learning—did significantly better.

- Test yourself
By testing yourself, you are getting rid of the possibilities of missing out on the things that you are not exactly sure with. that way you will fully understand the topic.
You can also teach this knowledge to someone else. It doesn't even need to be a person in fact you can just teach it to yourself too. By teaching it to someone, you will also find out what you don't understand about the topic.

- Understanding is Key
Well, this is the obvious but hold on i promise you this is worth the read.
It is better to understand the study material than to just memorize it.
The process of summarizing and finding connections, then writing them down and/or talking about them, is essential to “understanding” material. “Taking notes” may seem similar, but it all too often does not involve summarizing or finding connections. Summarizing and finding connections require reflection – you must think about the new material and how it relates (if at all) to experiences you have had and/or other topics you are familiar with. The discovery of connections and/or relationships are what lead to both long term recall and understanding.
On the other hand, to memorize something, you would only remember that information and if asked about it in a more detailed perspective, you would not be able to answer it.

- Take the hard route
Take the hard route and actually put in the effort to gather your sources and information. Understand them and practice practice practice. Practice is perhaps the most important part of studying smart and being able to remember everything better and ultimately score better in your examinations.
