How to Form a New Habit

How to Form a New Habit

Want to form a new habit but not sure how to? You have come to the right place. In this post i will be sharing with you some tips to form new habits easier and better.

What is A Habit?

A habit is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously, a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up.

Why is it important to form good habits?

Good habits allow you to reach your goals. Habits set a foundation for life and can replace motivation. We all have days when we just don’t feel like working, exercising or eating well. But when these things are habits, they become second nature and we do them without thinking. When healthy eating becomes a habit, although you may eat one slice of cake today, you probably won’t eat more and will go right back to making healthy choices tomorrow.

Tips to Form a New Habit
  • Focus on One new habit
It is important to only work on one habit at a time. That way, your store of willpower can be channeled to creating that one habit, increasing the odds of success.

  • Commit for 30 days
Habits are build from doing the saem things consistently over and over again. The time really varies from person to person and from habit to habit. Some habits are just easier to form than others.

  • Anchor your New habit to a established habit
By doing this, you will further establish that new habit. It would also be much easier to keep to that new habit if you have it connected to an old habit you already have established.

  • Take baby steps
Create a micro-commitment where it is impossible to fail. It is more important to stay consistent and not miss a day than it is to hit a specific milestone. When you have a low level of commitment, you will be more likely to get started.
  • Make A Plan for Obstacles
Prepare and anticipate that obstacles will arise. Then you would not be blindsided by them. Mentally prepare yourself for obstacles that will come, so that you would be more prepared.
  • Create accountability for your habit

Track your efforts and make public declarations about your new habit. That way, you are more likely to follow through with a commitment when you are being observed by others.

  • Reward important milestones
Focus on Building a reward system into the process so that you can take time to celebrate the successful completion of your goals. The reward you pick is up to you, but it is important to celebrate those big moments along the way.

  • Build a new identity
It is better to decide that the habit is simply part of your identity and then use each "small win" as a way to demonstrate that is who you are on the inside.

5 Steps to Being Productive

5 Steps to Being Productive Firstly, What is being Productive? Productivity is often describes a person's capability to do a lot of work, but is can refer to anything that produces a lot. A Productive day would mean to complete more things in a less amount of time but also doing it effectively.   Productivity is the amount of output produced per work hour. In other words, the calculation is: Productivity = output / work hours. Here are some points to remember, Sleep. Sleep more. I know it can be tempting to stay up at night to do whatever do but you would wake up the next day feeling more exhausted. Its hard to be productive while yawning and trying to stay awake. I suggest you have at least 6-8 hours of sleep a day. It will also be better if you regulate your sleeping schedule and sleep at the same time everyday even if it is the weekends and also wake up at the same time if possible. Plan out your week.  It’s extremely important to plan you...
